Have you discovered Aurelia Probiotic Skincare yet? With an ethical philosophy at the heart of everything they do, we found out more about the way this British brand source their stunning botanical ingredients.
Since Aurelia Probiotic Skincare launched three years ago, the brand has not only provided women with scientifically proven, evidence based skincare, including next-generation probiotic technology, but they also pay a Fairtrade price to the communities that collect and harvest their botanical ingredients. Aurelia are delighted to be a skincare brand that has partnered with the not-for-profit organisation Phytotrade Africa when sourcing the beautiful botanicals found throughout their exquisite line of face and body care. Phytotrade adheres to the highest standards of Fairtrade, supports the communities who gather the raw ingredients and advocates sustainable harvesting and growth. Phytotrade were set up in 2001 as the trade association of the natural products industry in Southern Africa. Their purpose is to alleviate poverty and protect biodiversity in the region.
Some of Aurelia’s precious key botanicals such as the magical skin-firming Kigelia Africana and Omega-rich Baobab are harvested by the people from a rural community close to Aurelia’s heart‒ the Rift Valley near Lake Malawi. One of the community's traditional uses for the Kigelia fruit in Africa is to use it as a treatment for skin complaints such as eczema, and to also prep and firm the skin to enhance the skin tissue and the oil from the baobab tree is commonly used to treat dry or damaged skin.
Founder Claire Vero was privileged to meet locals on her trip to Malawi whilst searching for the most exquisite BioOrganic botanicals now found in Aurelia’s scientifically developed probiotic skincare formulations, you can see what she discovered below:
Working with Phytotrade greatly improves the communities’ quality of life, helping to provide additional income for schooling, housing, medicines and food. In addition the locals learn, through harvesting and educational programmes, different ways in which they can protect the valuable trees at risk of deforestation and how to improve the biodiversity of the landscape in time.
Aurelia Probiotic Skincare pride themselves on their responsible sourcing and ethical choices, if you would like to join them on their journey and support the non-for-profit organisations they are partnered with you can shop the full range here: Aurelia Probiotic Skincare.
