World Land Trust is a UK-based conservation charity that works to preserve and restore endangered habitats across the globe. Since their establishment in 1989, they have protected over 881,000 acres of tropical forest and other threatened habitats. Their conservation work aims to address the severity of global habitat destruction, as well as the detrimental effects of climate change to ecosystems and communities. World Land Trust works with a network of local partners around the globe to protect habitat for wildlife; from active restoration (planting seeds of a mix of native trees, replacing trees that don’t grow), to funding land purchases to create and expand reserves, to supporting the work of rangers who monitor protected reserves, the ‘Keepers of the Wild’. Collaboration is central to how World Land Trust operates. They have developed close partnerships with local organisations and communities to ensure the conservation of irreplaceable habitats. They recognise the value in local knowledge and empowering local people through collaboration and new opportunities. This is essential to their effective and sustainable conservation efforts as well as the protection of the livelihoods of local communities. This year, we are supporting WLT’s Action Fund, the trust’s programme for responding to the most urgent conservation actions needed. It allows the charity to quickly react to unforeseen habitat threats like the recent forest fires in Mexico and Guatemala. It also enables them to rapidly respond to protect areas threatened by logging, deforestation and human encroachment, through land purchases and support of the local rangers who monitor and protect the reserves. Why this partnership is important to Naturisimo: Here at Naturisimo the protection of people and the planet are at the very core of who we are as a business. We want to see real change in the way our planet is treated, and we believe the work of World Land Trust is doing exactly that. As Sir David Attenborough, patron of the WLT, has stated “the money that is given to the World Land Trust, in my estimation, has more effect on the wild world than almost anything I can think of.” It is our responsibility to do our bit for the planet, which is why, with your help, we have chosen to support World Land Trust this Christmas. How will your purchase help World Land Trust? We’re donating 5% of what you spend in our Christmas Store directly to World Land Trust to support their Action Fund. On top of this, for 24 hours on Giving Tuesday, we will be donating 25% of sales site-wide to this programme. So whether you’re treating yourself or a loved one, you can know your purchase is helping to support a better future for our planet. We’re so excited to be partnering with World Land Trust this year and are very grateful for your help. Our donations will aid the charity’s invaluable and urgent work in protecting precious habitats across the world. As Sir David Attenborough confirms, “the support that is given to the World Land Trust is support that goes directly to the place where it’s needed”. Shop the Christmas Store
