Weleda has been manufacturing health care products and a wide range of cruelty-free skincare and bodycare products since 1921. As with Weleda medicines, the individual ingredients are selected for their natural therapeutic properties. Weleda grow their own plants and herbs to ensure the very finest quality ingredients, free from artificial fertilisers, pesticides and herbicides. All Weleda packaging is made from recycled materials.
Weleda Behind Weleda's comprehensive range of natural health products lies an important ethos concerning the way in which we take care of our health, and how we should relate to the world around us. This pursuit of health without exploitation is one of the central values of Weleda. The natural ingredients, quality control processes and production methods for Weleda products go beyond regulation for bodycare manufacturing standards. Only the best raw materials and pure essential oils are used. This is welcomed not only by those with allergies or sensitivities to artificial additives, who can see at a glance that they are safe with Weleda products, but also by vegetarians and vegans who can check whether the product is suitable.
Weleda has been awarded the acclaimed Demeter standard in recognition that the plants are of the highest possible quality for use in Weleda products. Demeter is an internationally recognised certification trademark. It is only given where product has been grown to the highest biodynamic standards. The term 'organic' refers to the methods of cultivation of ingredients. Most Weleda products cannot be labelled 'organic', even though they contain biodynamically-grown plant ingredients, because they additionally include natural substances that are not cultivated, such as mineral ingredients. Furthermore, certain Weleda ingredients are purified for reasons of quality and safety.
