A'kin carefully researches the needs of our customers and develops products in response to changes in customer demands. Customers are now seeking a more nurturing lifestyle characterised by the development of complimentary healthcare, organic, GMO free foods, a greater understanding of “chemicals” and a movement to a "balanced life". A'kin botanical ingredients are used in an amount sufficient to have a significant positive effect and our formulations are free from objectionable impurities and toxic preservatives

In 1987, Will Evans began manufacturing personal hair and skin care products. Will’s vision was to develop pure, effective, luxurious hair and skin care products from natural ingredients. He established The Purist Company in 1997 from a small factory in Katoomba in the heart of the Blue Mountains. During this time, Will experimented and refined his formulations until he was satisfied that The Purist Company [A’kin] products combined the latest in scientific knowledge with the best ingredients nature can supply. In 1998, body washes were launched into the Australian marketplace. Easy to use and gentle to the skin, the body wash was developed to replace soap and to be versatile enough to be used as a shower gel, bubble bath and a gentle wash for delicate clothing.

In 2002 the A'kin brand was launched and a variety of A'kin skin care products were sold in pharmacies and health food stores. With the ever increasing demand for natural and safe products, A'kin expanded its distribution base to include TV, spa retreats, online stores, complementary medical practices and beauty and hairdressing salons. In 2004, A'kin spread to international markets and today is present in the UK, USA and Asia with a view to expanding to new markets in the future. A'kin continues to evolve by launching new innovative products. In 2009 A’kin launched two new complete ranges - [A'kin] pureBaby and [A'kin] pureMAN.

A'kin products are always produced to the highest quality and are manufactured in a facility approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA). Will often uses groundbreaking new ingredients when developing these formulations. Recent innovations have been the use of echium oil (vipers bugloss oil), the richest known source of Omega 3, 6 & 9 essential fatty acids, and alpha lipoic acid - the most powerful anti-oxidant as feature ingredients in our [A’kin] skin care range. The formulations are developed to be self-preserving to a degree, by using pharmaceutical quality water, essential oils and other natural strategies.

A'kin is committed to meeting high levels of environmental practice both in the production of their products and in the day-to-day running of their business. A'kin makes every effort to minimise waste in their production process, avoiding excess packaging and utilising recyclable containers. To support the fight against using plastic bags, A'kin uses only recycled, chlorine free paper and natural fibre bags, making every effort to choose paper for printing purposes and general office supplies, which supports our environment. A'kin does not use any animal derived ingredients and uses certified organic and locally grown ingredients whenever possible.
